I am so excited for my TBR for July, and the reason is because of the Medieval-a-thon hosted by Holly Hearts Books! I don’t normally participate in readathons because I have a tough time sticking to a TBR. This is the first year I decided that I wanted to try a TBR to see how well I can stick to it (it’s 50/50 right now) but I have high hopes that I can stick to my July TBR for this amazing readathon!

What is the Medieval-a-thon?
This is a readathon hosted by Holly Hearts Books and is a month long readathon from July 1st to the 31st! The more books you read, the higher your ranking is! So if you read 6 books you become a King or Queen!
There are two sets of prompts for this readathon: an armor set and a weapons set. Depending on which books you read, you get armor or weapons! Below are Holly’s amazing graphics (created by Kat from Katsreadingcorner on Instagram) showing each of the prompts. I’m really hoping I can stick to my set TBR, but if for some reason I start a book and it’s not clicking I might choose a backup.
Crown: A book where a character fights for the throne
For this prompt I’m going with one of Holly’s suggestions and finally reading Prince of Thorns! I’ve had this series on my TBR for what feels like forever and this is the perfect readathon to finally read this book in, since Holly recommends it all the time!
Helmet: A book with a dragon on the cover
I decided that I finally need to get around to reading Seraphina, since this is another TBR veteran. All I really know is that Seraphina is part human part dragon, and the two races don’t really get along. I’m hoping that I’ll love this book and want to continue on to Shadowscale since I own a copy of that one as well.
Chestpiece: A shiny book
Seraphina is going to be doing double duty for this readathon because I have the beautiful reflective cover! If I end up having time I may try to fit in a different book, but for now, I’m using Seraphina twice.
Greaves: Read a thick paperback
My copy of The Red Knight is a chunker! I read the first few pages forever ago through the goodreads preview option and went out and bought the book, but I haven’t actually picked it up yet. It’s such a perfect fit for this readathon!
Shoes (or sabatons, if you want to be technical): A book that has yellowed over time
My copy of The Winner’s Curse was from a library that I got used through Amazon and let me tell you- this book is YELLOW. If I put it up to a newer copy of a book the difference in the page color is crazy! I’ve also heard really good things about this being a great underrated YA fantasy series, so it’s about time I get around to reading it.
Cloak: A book with red on the cover
If you thought that I would use The Red Knight for this prompt as well, you were right! There are two different editions of this book (that I’ve seen) and I have the darker looking covers which for this particular book is black and red!
Sword: A book with something pointy on the cover
I’ve been telling myself that I want to reread the entire Throne of Glass series this year, and this prompt just gave me the best excuse to start! I have the gorgeous collectors edition which has, you guessed it: a sword on the cover! That definitely counts as something pointy!
Daggers: A book with assassins
Yet another book pulling double duty (I can only read so many books a month, people!) is Throne of Glass. Celaena Sardothien is the most feared assassin in Adarlan, and she’s one of my favorite characters ever! This is the last prompt that I’m doubling up on.
Bow: A book with elves
It was actually crazy hard finding a book I haven’t read yet with elves. Not fae, elves. After a quick Google search, I found that The Tainted Crown by Meg Cowley has elves somewhere in it! Obviously since I haven’t read it yet I don’t know if they show up in the first book, but fingers crossed!
Axe: A book with mercenaries
After all these larger books, I needed to add something easy to my TBR so I added in Saga Volume 4! This series does feature a mercenary, and I’ve been meaning to read the 4th volume since I got it but I just haven’t yet, so this is the perfect excuse to finally read it!
