2020 Reading Goals

Hi everyone! Long time no see! I’ve been on a semi-hiatus because this time of year is always a little crazy when it comes to my free time, from spending time with family to working on christmas decorations (hopefully more on that soon) there just isn’t a lot of time for me to really sit down and work on blog posts. But today I wanted to share the reading goals that I will be setting for myself in 2020!

Read More Self Published Books

Earlier this year I made a list of self published fantasy on my TBR, and since writing that post so many more books have been added to my TBR, both physically and on my Goodreads. I want to make an effort to read more of them for a few reasons – they don’t get nearly as much attention as traditionally published books, and I really want to be able to find hidden gems to recommend to you all!

Goodreads Challenge: Read 50 books

For 2019 my goal was 50 books, and I reached it around October. Since I don’t want to pressure myself into reading more than that I’m keeping it at 50. Another reason is that I want to be able to read some of the larger tomes on my TBR, and feeling that I need to read a certain number of books means that I stay away from them because they take longer to read.

Buy Fewer Books

I’ve already been doing pretty good with this lately, but I want to do even better with it in the coming year. I need to work on saving my money for things that matter (bills, my dog, etc), so I’m making this a goal for the second year in a row!

Read My 20 for 2020 List

Earlier I posted a list of 20 books that I want to read in 2020, both backlist titles as well as 2020 releases. I want to make it a goal to read all 20 books on that list! Not much else to say about this goal, it’s pretty self explanatory.

Commit To A Reading Journal

I’ve had a bullet journal in the past, but I’ve had a hard time committing to it because of the amount of time it takes to design the layout and once I’m done, I never look at it again. I’m hoping that with the reading journal that came in the November OwlCrate I’ll be able to actually stick to it because I won’t have to draw everything out!

Read Books Outside My Comfort Zone

I want to read books that I wouldn’t normally read, like nonfiction! I used to read quite a wide variety before I became involved in the book community, then I found all these great fantasy books and kind of neglected everything else. I want to get back to reading a variety of genres!

What are your goals for 2020? I’m sure I could come up with a ton more, but I think I’ll stop it here for now!
