April 2020 TBR

I asked on Twitter if it was too late to post my April TBR and was told to still post it, so here we are! I’ve already finished two books this month so I’ll mention those first! I won’t go into too much detail because I’ll mention them again in my wrap up at the end of the month.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson – I wasn’t planning on reading this book, but I saw a few good reviews on Goodreads so I decided that I wanted to read it! This follows a girl who is trying to solve a 5 year old murder for a school project because she doesn’t believe that the person who was accused murdered her, and I had heard that it had some good twists in it. Since this is a thriller/mystery, I won’t go into details as to what else this is about. I’ll go into my thoughts on this book in my wrap up, and who knows? Maybe I’ll actually be a good book blogger and write a review for it!

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy – I read The Deal last month and loved it so much, I knew I needed to continue on with the series! This is another one that I already finished, so without giving my thoughts, this book follows one of the side characters from the first book and his relationship. This whole series in fact follows four different guys on the same hockey team, and I think this series will be my first favorite romance series!

Deeplight by Frances Hardinge – I have an e-ARC of this book through Netgalley and it releases April 14th so I really want to try to get this read before it comes out! I’ve been slacking off on my ARCs, which is such a shame because my March TBR was to read a bunch of my ARCs and I didn’t really do that. I’m not quite sure what this book is about, I know it has something to do with the sea and gods, but really what drew me into this one is the cover.

Shorefall by Robert Jackson Bennett– This is the sequel to Foundryside which was a book that I read and loved last year, and I was lucky enough to get an e-ARC of this book as well! This one is kind of like a steampunk urban fantasy, and I’m curious to see where this story goes because where this left off was going in a completely different direction than where I was expecting it to go. This is my final ARC for April, so if I can get through these two I also want to try some of my older ARCs that I haven’t finished yet!

Crown of Fire by Linsey Hall – This is a book I found through Kindle unlimited that was giving me SJM vibes, and after reading House of Earth and Blood I need another great fantasy romance to sink my teeth into. I didn’t even read any farther into the synopsis than the first two lines: “My fated mate is a lethal fae king. And I’m going to kill him.” I mean, if that doesn’t capture your attention I don’t know what will! I’m hoping this is a great read!

Between the Sea and Stars by Chantal Gadoury– This is another book that I got through my Kindle, and I decided to read it this month for a few reasons. First, it’s a Little Mermaid retelling. Second, it’s fairly short, and I’ve been lacking the attention span for really long books lately. Thirdly, this is actually an author who lives very close to me so I want to support her! As far as I’m aware, there aren’t that many fantasy writers in the area so this is exciting for me to support someone locally.
